After the hunt ..

After the hunt I mentioned about a week ago [ harvest time]  , this is the result . .... A desert !!!!!! No rabbits , mice or anything else that could give a good scent trail . And people talk about sustainability ...

Will it ever recover ??? Who knows .. such a shame

Well even a Prof can party !

A few pics of a party [well it started just as a hunt, but..]  we had yesterday . There were about 10 doggies plus bosses of about 5 packs ... and yes, we enjoyed :D

The living room window

I have 2 views from this room . One is the patio door which is frankly great and I spend some time watching for cats and other friends to go by . Sometimes successfully , sometimes not so good .

Cats are good , I tell the bosses theres some fun outdoors , and it gets the message pretty sharpish :D.

Then there is the other window [ above] . Boss seems to like this , gawd knows why , normally its just changing patterns , but sometimes , JUST sometimes this happens , and new friends come into the lair .

They dont stay for long normally . They ignore my shouts, and then just dissappear ! Yes , wierd or what ?

Ive followed them as they move to the left or right . Nothing. 

Ive checked behind the box beneath . nothing .

Ive looked out of windows to see where they go . Nothing .

Bosses just laugh when I investigate . Dont they know Im doing it for them ... what might happen if they enter the lair while we are all asleep !!!! [ with the shrine unattended for instance ? ].

Anyway , I cant do anything about the intruders , but did sort out whats happening . There is a tube coming out of the window [ its small , but maybe thats why these intruders are small ???] and it goes to the wall near the high window [ left on pic] , so they must  enter by there , find they cant get into the lair [ this window is never open] , and leave again .

The mystery Explained

This is seriously strange thing in our nest . They put food bits into it after most feeds . It then produces really nice smells for several hours , and when it opens.... WOW , a great warm smell with hints of food from the last few days . 

Ive studied this since i got adopted by my pack , running whenever it opens to get a good smell while its fresh . 

I used to think it was the nest's air freshener [ and it certainly works that way] , but its a bit big really for that.  I know think its the god summoner .

The reasons ?

1. Its next to the altar [ almost- you can see it just to the left on the pic], so proximity must play a part . The hole between the 2 is a mystery , of course as it just contains bottles and the odd vegetable - but must play a part somehow [ but that's for another days thinking]

2. They normally put food into it . I sometimes am allowed to clean stuff before they load it, but maybe its the thought/smell of food so doesnt need much. So offering food and asking for more is kinda obvious when you think about it?

3. The smell of hot food mixed with water? Well , how else are you going to get God's attention to ask him for yet ANOTHER favour ? Our hunt's are very rarely successful so we need food . In fact Im about the only one who tries to get food on a hunt - though sometimes the boss picks bits off trees to eat.

Anyway , another nest mystery .... SORTED !

Harvest Time !

Well , its taken me a bit of time thinking about this one , but finally sorted , and IM ANGRY ...

Ive heard a rumour about the glorious 12th [ whatever that means]  , and its about hunting ; and happening about now .

Basically , all the lawns have been flattened [ see above ]. It must have an explanation of course 

Given the above , there can only be one explanation . As the grass gets cut   ... well , there's lots of prey gets exposed , don't it ? 

So packs must gather round for the feast as their habitat is destroyed ...

And OUR pack wasnt invited !!!!! and we're there most days as well . What HAS the Boss done to be shunned like that ????????/ .

Maybe he has something better planned and is not going to invite those who ignored him ? 

The Home Shrine

Well , here it is ! :D

This shows that God exists . Whatever food is removed , it forever remains full . Total Magic !!!!!!

And the aromas !!!! Not so much when the altar is not opened , however . It's conceivable that one could wait in front of it forever , but it only ever seems to  open when the bosses are around .

Im never allowed to go too near it when this happens though , and Ive worked out that this is to keep its mysticism fresh in my mind......

A dog's business

Well the word is that we do our business anywhere we want . It's true of course , but at this time of year I always look forward to having a break from our hunt to do it in a wheatfield . It removes the distractions around you and just lets you concentrate on higher philosophical matters while the body sorts itself .

The COD system still applies of course , you need to spin 3 times before squatting

Of snow and God

Well the Boss is always going on about God , and if he exists . .....

Simples , aint it ?

Look at that white stuff that comes sometimes . Why it does ... dunno , but look at the stuff .
1. It covers Everything !!!! That takes some power imho
2. It's food . More than you can possibly eat [ and lets face it - we've all tried that one!  ]
3. You fill up and a minute later you can eat again . Absolutely wondrous. My fave pastime that you can keep replaying :)
4. Theres so much that you can roll in food [ decadent , or what ? ]. Then you find that it cuts down on those itches you have --- so its food AND medicine
5. When you run in it - you dont overheat anywhere near normal .
6. It wipes old smells so recent aromas are easier to find which helps hunting those elusive prey .
7. And as well as ALL that , you never get thirsty no matter how much you run in it .
GOD exists QED , only He could do all that and in such throwaway quantities . Ive tried telling Boss  but he never listens .....

Bullocks + other large creatures

Well , on our hunts we have started to see some large dogs in one of the fields we go to . Sometimes the Boss doesn't seem to want to get near them and stays clear .
They seem boring . They're about 5x my size but they don't bark or run quickly, but when I go to sniff them , they line up and look , well , NOT friendly .
I had that problem  and went round to nip one above the paw as they were getting very close and I had a hedge behind me .... The boss went APE and called a retreat .
HUH ?! just because there were 6 of them to little old me , Boss got worried but I could have taken them if given the chance ..........
